Brief description of activity outcomes

Sustainable Development Plan
Many coastal zone areas around the Banayks (and all of Indonesia ) share the same problems as these islands. The plan for sustainable management can, in slightly moderated form, be modelled to other places of Indonesia . The general principles of developing sustainability will be applicable anywhere in coastal zones hit or not hit by tsunami.

Regulation on Fisheries & Instalment of Boat Patrol
The regulation on fisheries is necessary, not only around the Banyak Islands but also everywhere in Indonesia . Finding a way to enforce fair regulation, ensure sustainable fishing method, give environmental stewardship to locals and protect fishing areas from other ports is vital for many of Indonesia 's small fishing communities. The training programme for the fishermen will be transferable to other areas.

The effective enforcement of regulations is virtually important everywhere. The instalment of an effective fisheries patrol and thereby also introducing the concept of sanctioning could also be replicated in many other small fishing communities. Introducing a small levy on catches will support the boat patrol financially and ensure long-term fishing opportunities for areas that are very dependent on this industry.

Guidelines of Replication
The project will develop guidelines of replication so that neighbouring coastal zones, Indonesian local government authorities, NGO's and universities will be able to replicate the project.

The guidelines will be promoted during the final conference of the project, where community leaders from other parts of Indonesia will be invited.
